I never understood spring break as a kid. The school I grew up in (in Ohio) never had a spring break. We just plowed through March and April and ended school a week or two before everyone else in town. Seemed like a pretty good deal to me.
Then, five years ago, after living in Florida for 5 1/2 years, we moved back to Michigan and our kids entered school. I totally get spring break. Especially this year.
In fact, it seems more like Spring “Broke.” Because it just plain feels like Spring is broken. Our district goes on break starting today, and the weatherman is telling us we’re going to get freezing rain. Yay.
Starting today, the Michigan highways will look like conveyer belts dumping cars filled with pale, sun-seeking families into the South. Beware Southerners. They’re coming. And they are more desperate than they’ve ever been before.
We’ll be taking a little break around here too. After a prolonged winter, cancer, and a broken arm (that was T-Rex in February), we are so ready to regroup.
We all need seasons of respite. Wherever spring takes you, I hope you take time to rest, regroup, and reconnect with people you love.

The title says it all sister. After Mother Nature and Old Man Winter were finished arguing spring is a little nervous and hesitant. Happy Spring to you and yours!
