Welcome to Drop Everything and Encourage Day for June. This happens to be our last week of school (hip-hip-hooray!), and I know that my life is about to enter a whole new season of hectic. We trade one kind of busyness (homework, studying, field trips) for another (trips to the beach, visits with Grandma, summer camps).
Summer is the perfect time to be intentional and re-connect with friends whom you haven’t seen in awhile.
I know that if I’m not intentional about scheduling things with friends, the summer will slip like sand out of my fingers.
To kick off our summer, we’ve invited a large group of friends, neighbors, and acquaintances to join us at a nearby state park for a beach day. There’s nothing to plan other than “Hey, we’re going to the park. Want to join us? This is the date and time, pack a lunch and some beach toys!” Last year, we had 20-30 people join us. It was a blast and the best way to kick off summer.
We also have a date on the calendar with an out-of-state high school classmate I haven’t seen in 13 years who lives an hour from where we’re vacationing in August!
Here are some prompts to help you think over your summer:
