Vacation: : a respite or a time of respite from something
Respite: an interval of rest or relief
Kedron and I agreed that this was the first vacation we’d had in about 8 years. Oh, we have taken trips over the past years, but we always came home feeling like we needed a vacation from our vacation. The past week in Florida was true respite.
I think it was because we had no agenda. No plans. No theme parks. Just relaxing, loving on my Grandma and some of our dear friends. Laughing til my face hurt. Watching Little Miss hug Great Grandma over and over. Watching T-Rex turn into a fish in the water.
And while the kids liked the beach, they preferred the pool at the community where my Grandma lives.
Personally, I could sit on the beach all day long and just soak up the sun, wind and waves, digging my toes in that sugary sand. And I had to chuckle because the Midwest experienced a serious heatwave while we were in Florida, making it a good 10 degrees hotter at home than in Florida.
Although, hearing about the heatwave gave me nightmares about my garden. I dreamt 3 times that it completely withered away. Thankfully my neighbors took good care of it for me. And apparently the garden loved the heat because it looks like a jungle. And I have zucchini coming out my ears!
It was good to get away. It was good to come home.

It’s amazing what a little R&R can do! We were commenting on the same thing, first real vacation in many years and with no agenda. Our kids would rather be at the pool too, but for me I could sit on the beach all day…with 50+spf of course 🙂 Glad you have a good time! I <3 FL beaches!
